Mares

Cumbria Black Bindaree

“For the 30 years I have been breeding Arabs I always had an image in mind of exactly the animal I wanted to produce. I am very close to achieving my ambition with Black Bindaree. She has the type and character of her mother, grandmother and great grandmother Narrisa, my foundation mare. She has the height and elegance of her grandsire Fahim Hisan, who I exported to the UAE in 1990. She has the kind temperament, sound conformation and straight paces of her sire Al Sood.”

Fiona Walling

Black Bindaree (Binnie) is a favourite with everyone – she is a tall mare and always has loads of presence and character.  She was successful in the showring and spent most of her early life under saddle with Fiona’s daughter Katie-Jo, excelling in riding club activities and taking part in the Borders Common Ridings.

As a 4 yr old she wore traditional costume to show off to the crowds at our open day, part of the Borders Horse Festival.

Cumbria Kalila

2009 Black Straight Egyptian Mare, 15 hh.  AHS Premium mare under both endurance and dressage criteria.  By Al Sood and out of Isla, she is full sister to the King of Jordan’s black stallion Al Aswad.

Kalila is a mare with the sweetest temperament. Even in her first endurance season she would give leads to more experienced horses past scary objects or stand quietly to close a gate whilst other horses galloped away.  She has strong, correct conformation and loose flowing paces that have proven perfect for endurance as well as receiving many complimentary comments from dressage judges

Despite only competing as a 5 and 6 year old before joining the stud as a broodmare she exceeded expectations in both disciplines.  In 2015 she was 3rd highest placed Arabian in the UK for points accumulated in the AHS performance horse awards, an incredible achievement for a 6 year old

Aisha and Pearl are everything you would want in an Arabian and typical of Al Sood progeny – full of type and presence – correct – good size and strength  – bold paces and superb temperament.
